Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Lowell had an population of 3,706 people. This is an increase of 5.1% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 39.22% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Lowell had a population of 3,526 people. This makes Lowell the county's 9th most populous community.

The population of Lowell represents 0.04% of the population of North Carolina (which has 9,535,483 people), making it the state's 177th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 3,526 people, the population of Lowell increased 32.46% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 2,662 people).

We originally found mention of Lowell in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Lowell was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<8>

From that list, the Lowell post office opened in 1879.

We also found Lowell in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
