At the time of the 2010 Census, Huntersville had a population of 46,773 people (or 5.09% of the total population of Mecklenburg County). This makes Huntersville the county's 2nd most populous community.

The population of Huntersville represents 0.49% of the population of North Carolina (which has 9,535,483 people), making it the state's 19th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 46,773 people, the population of Huntersville increased 87.39% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 24,960 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Huntersville was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Huntersville post office opened in 1873.
