At the time of the 2010 Census, High Shoals had a population of 696 people. This makes High Shoals the county's 11th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 696 people, the population of High Shoals decreased 4.53% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 729 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for High Shoals was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the High Shoals post office opened in 1828.

We also found High Shoals in the book titled List of Post Offices in the United States (1870).
