Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Fountain had an population of 437 people. This is an increase of 2.34% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 18.01% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Fountain had a population of 427 people. This makes Fountain the county's 7th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 427 people, the population of Fountain decreased 19.89% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 533 people).

We originally found mention of Fountain in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Fountain was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Fountain post office opened in 1902.

We also found Fountain on a map titled Rand McNally Map of North Carolina (1911).
