The community of Henderson is the Seat for Vance County.

Vance County was founded in 1881. Vance was created by taking area from Franklin, Granville and Warren Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Vance had a population of 44,670 people. This is a decrease of 1.66% since the last Census (which gave a population of 45,422 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Vance represented 0.48% of the total population of North Carolina.
