The community of Brevard is the Seat for Transylvania County.

Transylvania County was founded in 1861. Transylvania was created by taking area from Henderson and Jackson Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Transylvania had a population of 34,270 people. This is an increase of 3.57% since the last Census (which gave a population of 33,090 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Transylvania represented 0.35% of the total population of North Carolina.
