The community of Salisbury is the Seat for Rowan County.

Rowan County was founded in 1753 and was created by taking area from Anson County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Rowan had a population of 141,818 people. This is an increase of 2.45% since the last Census (which gave a population of 138,428 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Rowan represented 1.45% of the total population of North Carolina.
