At the time of the 2010 Census, Charlotte had a population of 731,424 people (which is 79.53% of the total population of Mecklenburg County). This makes Charlotte the county's most populous community.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Charlotte was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<8>

From that list, the Charlotte post office opened in 1794.
