Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Aulander had an population of 780 people. This is a decrease of 12.85% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 12.16% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Aulander had a population of 895 people. This makes Aulander the county's 2nd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 895 people, the population of Aulander has remained roughly the same as the 2000 Census (which had a count of 888 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Aulander was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Aulander post office opened in 1878.

We also found Aulander in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
