Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Fairfield had an population of 722 people. This is an increase of 1.98% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 9.56% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Fairfield had a population of 708 people (or 11.66% of the total population of Teton County). This makes Fairfield the county's 2nd most populous community.

The population of Fairfield represents 0.07% of the population of Montana (which has 989,415 people), making it the state's 70th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 708 people, the population of Fairfield increased 7.44% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 659 people).
