The community of Thompson Falls is the Seat for Sanders County.

Sanders County was founded in 1906 and was created by taking area from Missoula County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Sanders had a population of 11,946 people. This is an increase of 4.67% since the last Census (which gave a population of 11,413 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Sanders represented 1.15% of the total population of Montana.
