While we don't have a date for the founding of Choteau, you might get a feel for it by knowing that during our research the earliest mention that we found (so far) was in a book dated 1895.

From the  Census Estimates for 2019, Choteau has a population of 1,714 people<3> (see below for details).

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Choteau had an population of 1,714 people. This is an increase of 1.78% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 3.76% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Choteau had a population of 1,684 people (which is 27.73% of the total population of Teton County). This makes Choteau the county's most populous community.

The population of Choteau represents 0.17% of the total population of Montana (which has 989,415 people), making it the state's 43rd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 1,684 people, the population of Choteau decreased 5.45% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 1,781 people).
