At the time of the 2010 Census, Marks had a population of 1,735 people (or 21.1% of the total population of Quitman County). This makes Marks the county's most populous community.

The population of Marks represents 0.06% of the total population of Mississippi (which has 2,967,297 people), making it the state's 120th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 1,735 people, the population of Marks increased 11.86% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 1,551 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Marks was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Marks post office opened in 1883.

We also found Marks in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
