Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Aberdeen had an population of 5,231 people. This is a decrease of 6.79% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 18.46% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Aberdeen had a population of 5,612 people (or 15.17% of the total population of Monroe County). This makes Aberdeen the county's 2nd most populous community.

The population of Aberdeen represents 0.19% of the total population of Mississippi (which has 2,967,297 people), making it the state's 59th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 5,612 people, the population of Aberdeen decreased 12.52% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 6,415 people).

We originally found mention of Aberdeen in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Aberdeen was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Aberdeen post office opened in 1836.

We also found Aberdeen in the book titled U.S. Post Offices (Oct. 1846).
