Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Joplin had an population of 50,849 people. This is an increase of 1.39% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 11.75% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Joplin had a population of 50,150 people (which is 42.72% of the total population of Jasper County). This makes Joplin the county's most populous community.

The population of Joplin represents 0.84% of the total population of Missouri (which has 5,988,927 people), making it the state's 13th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 50,150 people, the population of Joplin increased 10.21% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 45,504 people).
