The community of Carrollton is the Seat for Carroll County.

Carroll County was founded in 1833 and was created by taking area from Ray County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Carroll had a population of 8,698 people. This is a decrease of 6.42% since the last Census (which gave a population of 9,295 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Carroll represented 0.16% of the total population of Missouri.
