Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Oakdale had an population of 27,941 people. This is an increase of 2.06% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 4.83% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Oakdale had a population of 27,378 people (which is 11.5% of the total population of Washington County). This makes Oakdale the county's 3rd most populous community.

The population of Oakdale represents 0.52% of the population of Minnesota (which has 5,303,925 people), making it the state's 32nd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 27,378 people, the population of Oakdale increased 2.72% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 26,653 people).
