Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, International Falls had an population of 5,792 people. This is a decrease of 9.84% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 13.59% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, International Falls had a population of 6,424 people (or 48.26% of the total population of Koochiching County). This makes International Falls the county's most populous community.

The population of International Falls represents 0.12% of the population of Minnesota (which has 5,303,925 people), making it the state's 125th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 6,424 people, the population of International Falls decreased 4.16% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 6,703 people).
