Todd County was founded in 1855 and was created by taking area from Cass County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Todd had a population of 24,725 people. This is a decrease of 0.68% since the last Census (which gave a population of 24,895 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Todd represented 0.47% of the total population of Minnesota.
