The community of International Falls is the Seat for Koochiching County.

Koochiching County was founded in 1906 and was created by taking area from Itasca County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Koochiching had a population of 12,202 people. This is a decrease of 8.33% since the last Census (which gave a population of 13,311 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Koochiching represented 0.25% of the total population of Minnesota.
