Anoka County was founded in 1857 and was created by taking area from Ramsey County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Anoka had a population of 357,538 people. This is an increase of 8.07% since the last Census (which gave a population of 330,844 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Anoka represented 6.24% of the total population of Minnesota.
