At the time of the 2010 Census, Walker had a population of 23,537 people. This makes Walker the county's 4th most populous community.

The population of Walker represents 0.24% of the total population of Michigan (which has 9,883,640 people), making it the state's 48th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 23,537 people, the population of Walker increased 7.76% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 21,842 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Walker was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Walker post office opened in 1884.
