The community of Standish is the Seat for Arenac County.

Arenac County was founded April 21, 1883 and was created by taking area from  County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Arenac had a population of 14,944 people. This is a decrease of 6.01% since the last Census (which gave a population of 15,899 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Arenac represented 0.16% of the total population of Michigan.
