Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Richmond had an population of 3,484 people. This is an increase of 2.14% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 5.64% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Richmond had a population of 3,411 people (or 9.66% of the total population of Sagadahoc County). This makes Richmond the county's 3rd most populous community.

The population of Richmond represents 0.26% of the population of Maine (which has 1,328,361 people), making it the state's 105th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 3,411 people, the population of Richmond increased 3.43% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 3,298 people).
