Prince George's County was founded in 1696. Prince George's was created by taking area from Calvert and Charles Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Prince George's had a population of 911,562 people. This is an increase of 5.58% since the last Census (which gave a population of 863,420 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Prince George's represented 14.95% of the total population of Maryland.
