Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Murray had an population of 19,331 people. This is an increase of 8.96% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 29.3% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Murray had a population of 17,741 people (or 47.7% of the total population of Calloway County). This makes Murray the county's most populous community.

The population of Murray represents 0.41% of the population of Kentucky (which has 4,339,367 people), making it the state's 20th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 17,741 people, the population of Murray increased 18.67% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 14,950 people).

We originally found mention of Murray in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Murray was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Murray post office opened in 1843.

We also found Murray in the book titled Table of U.S. Post Offices in the United States (Jan. 1851).
