Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Frankfort had an population of 27,692 people. This is an increase of 8.48% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 0.18% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Frankfort had a population of 25,527 people (which is 51.79% of the total population of Franklin County). This makes Frankfort the county's most populous community.

The population of Frankfort represents 0.59% of the population of Kentucky (which has 4,339,367 people), making it the state's 12th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 25,527 people, the population of Frankfort decreased 7.98% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 27,741 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Frankfort was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Frankfort post office opened in 1794.
