Simpson County was founded in 1819. Simpson was created by taking area from Allen, Logan and Warren Counties. From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Simpson had a population of 18,530 people. This is an increase of 6.94% since the last Census (which gave a population of 17,327 people in 2010). At the time of the 2010 Census, Simpson represented 0.4% of the total population of Kentucky.
