Time Zone: Franklin County lies in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time.

The community of Frankfort is the Seat for Franklin County. Frankfort is also the capital of Kentucky.

Franklin County was founded in 1794. Franklin was created by taking area from Mercer, Shelby and Woodford Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Franklin had a population of 50,887 people. This is an increase of 3.25% since the last Census (which gave a population of 49,285 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Franklin represented 1.14% of the total population of Kentucky.
