The community of Goodland is the seat for Sherman County. Sherman County was founded in 1886. Using the Census estimates for 2007<1>, Sherman had a population of 5,959 people. This is a decrease of 11.67% since the 2000 Census (which gave a population of 6,746 people). At the time of the 2000 Census, Sherman represented 0.25% of the total population of Kansas, making it the state's 58th most populous county.
