While we don't have a date for the founding of Phillipsburg, you might get a feel for it by knowing that during our research the earliest mention that we found (so far) was in a book dated 1895.

The origin (or the toponymy) of Phillipsburg: Named for William Addison Phillips (1824-1893), who served as a Major in the First Indian Home Guards and later as a delegate to the U.S. House of Representatives.

At the time of the 2010 Census, Phillipsburg had a population of 2,581 people (or 45.75% of the total population of Phillips County). This makes Phillipsburg the county's most populous community.
