While we don't have a date for the founding of Norton, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1872.

The origin (or the toponymy) of Norton: Named for Captain Orloff Norton (1818-1864), who served with the 15th Kansas Cavalry and was killed by Bushwackers at Cane Hill, Arkansas (AR).

From the  Census Estimates for 2019, Norton has a population of 2,734 people<3> (see below for details).

The population of Norton represents 0.1% of the total population of Kansas (which has 2,853,118 people), making it the state's 94th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 2,928 people, the population of Norton decreased 2.79% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 3,012 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Norton was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Norton post office opened in 1872.

We also found Norton in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
