At the time of the 2010 Census, Junction City had a population of 23,353 people (which is 67.96% of the total population of Geary County). This makes Junction City the county's most populous community.

The population of Junction City represents 0.82% of the population of Kansas (which has 2,853,118 people), making it the state's 17th most populous community.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Junction City was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Junction City post office opened in 1858.
