Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Horton had an population of 1,679 people. This is a decrease of 5.46% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 14.64% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Horton had a population of 1,776 people (or 17.79% of the total population of Brown County). This makes Horton the county's 2nd most populous community.

The population of Horton represents 0.06% of the total population of Kansas (which has 2,853,118 people), making it the state's 135th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 1,776 people, the population of Horton decreased 9.71% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 1,967 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Horton was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Horton post office opened in 1886.
