Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Hill City had an population of 1,384 people. This is a decrease of 6.11% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 13.72% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Hill City had a population of 1,474 people (which is 56.76% of the total population of Graham County). This makes Hill City the county's most populous community.

The population of Hill City represents 0.05% of the total population of Kansas (which has 2,853,118 people), making it the state's 149th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 1,474 people, the population of Hill City decreased 8.1% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 1,604 people).

We originally found mention of Hill City in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Hill City was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Hill City post office opened in 1878.

We also found Hill City in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
