Johnson County is one of the original counties of Kansas and was founded August 25, 1855.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Johnson had a population of 602,948 people. This is an increase of 10.8% since the last Census (which gave a population of 544,179 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Johnson represented 19.07% of the total population of Kansas.
