Butler County is one of the original counties of Kansas and was founded August 25, 1855.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Butler had a population of 66,932 people. This is an increase of 1.6% since the last Census (which gave a population of 65,880 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Butler represented 2.31% of the total population of Kansas.
