While we don't have a date for the founding of Bogue, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1888.

The origin (or the toponymy) of Bogue: Named for Virgil Gay Bogue, an engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad.

From the  Census Estimates for 2019, Bogue has a population of 134 people<2> (see below for details).

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Bogue had an population of 134 people. This is a decrease of 6.29% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 25.14% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Bogue had a population of 143 people (or 5.51% of the total population of Graham County). This makes Bogue the county's 3rd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 143 people, the population of Bogue decreased 20.11% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 179 people).

We originally found mention of Bogue in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Bogue was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Bogue post office opened in 1888.

We also found Bogue in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
