At the time of the 2010 Census, Alma had a population of 832 people (or 11.8% of the total population of Wabaunsee County). This makes Alma the county's most populous community.

The population of Alma represents 0.03% of the total population of Kansas (which has 2,853,118 people), making it the state's 223rd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 832 people, the population of Alma increased 4.39% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 797 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Alma was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Alma post office opened in 1863.

We also found Alma in the book titled List of Post Offices in the United States (1870).
