While we don't have a date for the founding of DeMotte, you might get a feel for it by knowing that during our research the earliest mention that we found (so far) was in a book dated 1895.

From the  Census Estimates for 2019, DeMotte has a population of 4,157 people<2> (see below for details).

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, DeMotte had an population of 4,157 people. This is an increase of 8.99% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 28.54% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, DeMotte had a population of 3,814 people (or 11.39% of the total population of Jasper County). This makes DeMotte the county's 2nd most populous community.

The population of DeMotte represents 0.06% of the population of Indiana (which has 6,483,802 people), making it the state's 139th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 3,814 people, the population of DeMotte increased 17.93% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 3,234 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for DeMotte was in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).

We also found DeMotte on a map (with an unknown title) dated 1908.
