At the time of the 2010 Census, Evanston had a population of 74,486 people. This makes Evanston the county's 4th most populous community.

The population of Evanston represents 0.58% of the total population of Illinois (which has 12,830,632 people), making it the state's 15th most populous community.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Evanston was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<10>

From that list, the Evanston post office opened in 1855.
