Warren County was founded in 1825 and was created by taking area from Schuyler County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Warren had a population of 16,816 people. This is a decrease of 5.03% since the last Census (which gave a population of 17,707 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Warren represented 0.14% of the total population of Illinois.
