Schuyler County was founded in 1825. Schuyler was created by taking area from Pike and Fulton Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Schuyler had a population of 6,829 people. This is a decrease of 9.48% since the last Census (which gave a population of 7,544 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Schuyler represented 0.06% of the total population of Illinois.
