Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Sandpoint had an population of 8,991 people. This is an increase of 22.08% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 31.54% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Sandpoint had a population of 7,365 people (which is 18.02% of the total population of Bonner County). This makes Sandpoint the county's most populous community.

The population of Sandpoint represents 0.47% of the population of Idaho (which has 1,567,582 people), making it the state's 25th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 7,365 people, the population of Sandpoint increased 7.75% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 6,835 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Sandpoint was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<8>

From that list, the Sandpoint post office opened in 1893.
