Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Whiting had an population of 722 people. This is a decrease of 5.25% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 2.12% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Whiting had a population of 762 people (or 8.24% of the total population of Monona County). This makes Whiting the county's 3rd most populous community.

The population of Whiting represents 0.03% of the population of Iowa (which has 3,046,355 people), making it the state's 363rd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 762 people, the population of Whiting increased 7.78% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 707 people).
