From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Shambaugh was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Shambaugh post office opened in 1880.

We also found Shambaugh in the book titled Sixth Biennial Report of the State Mine Inspectors, Two Years Ending June 30, 1893.
