At the time of the 2010 Census, Valdosta had a population of 54,518 people (which is 49.91% of the total population of Lowndes County). This makes Valdosta the county's most populous community.

The population of Valdosta represents 0.56% of the population of Georgia (which has 9,687,653 people), making it the state's 12th most populous community.
