Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Savannah had an population of 144,839 people. This is an increase of 6.28% since the 2010 Census.

At the time of the 2010 Census, Savannah had a population of 136,286 people (which is 51.4% of the total population of Chatham County). This makes Savannah the county's most populous community.

The population of Savannah represents 1.41% of the total population of Georgia (which has 9,687,653 people), making it the state's 3rd most populous community.
