Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Montezuma had an population of 2,985 people. This is a decrease of 13.73% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 27.79% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Montezuma had a population of 3,460 people (which is 23.47% of the total population of Macon County). This makes Montezuma the county's most populous community.

The population of Montezuma represents 0.04% of the total population of Georgia (which has 9,687,653 people), making it the state's 166th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 3,460 people, the population of Montezuma decreased 16.3% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 4,134 people).

We originally found mention of Montezuma in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Montezuma was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Montezuma post office opened in 1852.

We also found Montezuma on a map (with an unknown title) dated 1855.
