Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Covington had an population of 14,220 people. This is an increase of 8.4% since the 2010 Census.

At the time of the 2010 Census, Covington had a population of 13,118 people (or 13.12% of the total population of Newton County). This makes Covington the county's most populous community.

The population of Covington represents 0.14% of the population of Georgia (which has 9,687,653 people), making it the state's 64th most populous community.
